Asymmetry of government fraud...

Post by White Wolf »

Most people grow up believing authority is something different from everyone else. Something cleaner. Something more legitimate. But when you strip away the language, the uniforms, and the rituals, what you are left with is a group that claims special permission to do what would be considered wrong for anyone else.

If an individual takes your money without consent, that is theft. If a group does it under the banner of statism, it is called taxation. If an individual restricts your movement or dictates your choices, that is control. When the state does it, it is called law. The behavior does not change. Only the justification does.

The uncomfortable truth is that power tends to operate outside the very limits it sets for others. It writes the rules, enforces the rules, and exempts itself from the consequences of breaking them. That is not accountability. That is asymmetry.

Once you see it this way, it becomes harder to accept the idea that authority is inherently moral. It forces a deeper question. Not whether something is legal, but whether it is right. And those are not always the same thing.

Statism depends on people not asking that question too closely
