Urine Therapy Series

Urine therapy, also known as urotherapy or shivambu, is the practice of applying human urine to the body or ingesting it for medicinal or cosmetic purposes.

​The practice appears in various historical texts and traditions:
​India: In Ayurvedic tradition, the practice is called Shivambu Kalpa. It was historically viewed as a way to "recycle" nutrients and life force.

​Ancient Egypt and Greece: Urine was occasionally used to treat wounds or skin conditions.

​Folk Medicine: It has been used in various cultures as an emergency antiseptic or a remedy for stings.
