All property is private.

Statism survives by blurring the line between ownership and control. It takes resources from millions of individuals, calls them “public,” then hands real control to politicians, bureaucracies, and politically connected institutions.

But “public property” is almost never controlled by the actual public. You cannot truly manage it, sell it, redesign it, exclude misuse, or directly benefit from its value the way an owner can. The state controls it while claiming everyone does.

Private property creates accountability because the owner bears the costs of bad decisions and gains from good ones. That incentive structure is one of the foundations of civilization itself. Homes get maintained. Businesses innovate. Farms produce. Investments happen. Long term thinking emerges.

Statism weakens those incentives by separating control from responsibility. When nobody truly owns something, neglect, waste, political favoritism, and coercion expand. History repeatedly shows that societies with stronger property rights create more prosperity, stability, innovation, and human flourishing than societies where the state steadily absorbs ownership and control.

Freedom begins with self ownership, and self ownership naturally extends into property rights. Without secure private property, individuals are never fully free because rulers always retain ultimate power over what people can build, keep, trade, or pass down.

That is why statism constantly grows through taxation, regulation, inflation, eminent domain, licensing, zoning restrictions, asset seizure, and political redistribution. Control over property ultimately becomes control over people.
