“It’s illegal” is not a moral argument.

Slavery was legal. Segregation was legal. Locking people in cages for peaceful choices has been legal. Stealing money through taxation is legal. Forcing people to obey rulers they never consented to is legal.

Legality only tells you what the state currently permits or punishes. It does not tell you what is right.

The real question is simple.

Was there a victim?

Was there fraud?

Was there theft?

Was there violence?

Was there a violation of someone’s property, body, contract, or consent?

If the answer is no, then “it’s illegal” usually just means the state invented a command and threatened people for disobeying it.

That is not civilization. That is statism dressed up as morality.

A free society does not need rulers deciding which peaceful actions are allowed. It needs voluntary cooperation, property rights, restitution for real harm, and equal moral standards for everyone.
